Oh Life • Our First Home!

We spent an insane 2 months before our wedding house-hunting. We looked at over 40 houses, made offers on 4 of them during those 2 months, and even had to terminate a contract on one that we almost closed on when we found out that house would come with $20,000 in termite damage! The Lord finally brought us to THIS home, that we ended up with, and we closed on it the first week of November, as soon as we came home from our honeymoon, and I carried Melissa across the threshold as we moved in during violent rain! With getting settled in, final papers and exams, then the craziness of the holidays, we have not had a chance to paint/decorate until the week after Christmas! So, here’s all the painting we’ve gotten done…

Yes, we DO realize that we have a purple living room with a red lamp-shade. All we can say is, it came with the lamp, and we’re workin’ on it.

So, as you can see, we’re big fans of color

Stephen & Nicki | Engaged!

Stephen and Nicki are amazing friends of ours. Stephen (who goes by Smap to everyone except Nicki) was an interim youth director at Tega Cay Baptist for awhile and Melissa and I interned for him until Remedy began so we could be eligable for our scholarships at Lee. Now Smap and Nicki are involved with us at Remedy. Nicki attended USC Columbia last semester before transfering to Winthrop; when she came home on the weekends, she would stay the night in our guest room so Melissa wouldn’t have to be home alone all night when I’d work overnights in Charlotte. These guys are so amazing, and have ministered to us in such great ways. We’re so excited and honored to be able to minister to them and do their wedding! So here’s a few of our favorites from their engagement shoot…

This is SO Nicki! I’ve had this shot in my head since they day we scheduled this shoot. The Sunday morning after Smap proposed, she was the most glowing, excited newly-engaged girl anyone at church had ever seen. So, when we told her to show off her ring and make her “excited face,” she knew exactly what we were talking about.

So these two are ALL about some argyle. Melissa told me about a time that Stephen and Nicki came over to our house to see her while I was at work. It was their one-year anniversary, and Nicki was showing Melissa the argyle sweater (the one that Nicki’s wearing below) that Stephen had gotten her for their anniversary. Nicki said “Stephen loves argyle,” and barely had the words left her mouth when Stephen threw open his winter-coat, proudly revealing the argyle sweater he was wearing… ha. He also got her argyle toe-socks!

When Stephen and Nicki started dating, they spent a lot of time at a coffee shop together, getting to know each other and having conversations deep in the things of Christ and biblical discussion. They wanted a shot of them sitting together at a coffee-shop table to remind them of those moments that brought them so close during the early months of their relationship.

Mitchell & Sarah | Engaged!

Sarah and Mitch met in modeling school. How could you ask for a more fun couple to shoot? Sarah is our makeup artist we use for weddings and any of our clients who want their makeup done before any other kind of shoot. She is so talented, and truly makes our job (when it comes to processing) SO much easier. Mitch and Sarah decided, like us, to have a super-short engagement (it’s really the way to go!), and we’re thrilled to return the favor to Sarah and help make her wedding-planning experience easier by vending all of their photography. We enjoyed them so much and can’t wait for their wedding on March 6th!
