These photos are a series we did at the request of Charlotte Wedding Magazine back in November for their January/March 2013 issue! Now that the issue is off the shelf we can finally share them- so excited! The CWM did an 8-page spread of 8 of the photos from this shoot, so most of the images here are extras that were not selected for the feature. Brian just had a total blast in the studio- he was totally in his element!

The images look fantastic and ever better in print ; ) Special thanks to our gorgeous model, Lindsay Worsham, and to Hayden Olivia Bridal, The Lily Rose, Mecklenburg Bridal Gallery, and New York Bride & Groom for supplying the fabulous gowns for this shoot! (See captions for jewelry vendors. See the spread in Charlotte Wedding Magazine Jan/Mar 2013 for all designer and price info)

the gracious table co. | featured vendor

So… you’ve been inspiration-scouting on Pinterest and Style Me Pretty for wedding ideas and, of course, all of the photos on Pinterest feature stunning table-ware. Admit it: you’ve seen it… and you want it. “But,” you say to yourself, “finding enough of that stunning table-ware to accommodate my guest list would take so much time and energy that I don’t have- so many teeny-tiny details just on my tables alone, and I still have to worry about x, y, z….” Ummm. Stop right there! LOOK AT THOSE GORGEOUS TABLE-SCAPES! Those photos have been re-pinned 37 times because this look of real china is beautiful, the essence of Southern charm and hospitality, and the epitome of class and sophistication! Imagine your each of your guests walking into your reception space to find their name-card perched on a beautiful, authentic china place-setting… how special, honored and valued they would feel!

This is why The Gracious Table Co. exists: To honor the celebrations, gatherings and, well, life that happen around the table by gracing it with something real and beautiful! They offer specialty-rentals of mix-and-match fine-china, stemware, silverware, custom table-linens and table-accessories! Owners Gary & Cheryl Reynolds understands the love that is shared across the table on a wedding-day and have made it their mission to capture its essence by providing a one-stop-shop for brides who want to wow their guests with breath-taking table-scapes.

I know this first-hand, because I know the owners pretty well ; ) They’re none other than my sweet parents! Growing up, it was always extremely important to both of them, especially my mom, that we eat dinner as a family, every night, off of “real” plates and silverware (Seriously. She has always- and still does- apologize to us on the nights we used/use paper plates for dinner, hehe). My brother and I never understood it then as children, why we always had to create so much work for ourselves by eating off of “real dishes” all the time (table-setting and dish-duty were chores on at least one of our chore lists on-and-off throughout the years lol). But it was important to Mom that we understood that that time we spent around the table as a family was special, worth the extra time and elbow-grease! And now she’s turned her passion for quality dish-ware and quality time around the table into a brand-new business venture!

Check out her website here, and check out their facebook here! Also view just some of her inventory below. The Gracious Table Co. currently features 4 different collections of mix-and-match pieces: Bridal (white & off-white), Tuxedo (black & white), Vintage, and Woodland! As of the beginning of the year, they are accepting only a select number of wedding and event commissions as they continue to build their already extensive inventory, ease their way into the industry, and learn what works best for them!

evaluation and changes that will help you save!

Yesterday, as we wrote up the photography agreement for the wedding that will break 2011’s record for the number of weddings we’ve photographed in a year, it got us reflecting on the strides God has allowed us to make in this business. As we’ve grown as photographers, people, small-business owners and as spouses, it’s been interesting to learn what a catch-22 our jobs really are! Last year, I wrote on our blog about the necessity of a price-increase on our packages, explaining how we needed to raise our prices in order to justify quitting our day-jobs and be able to focus on photography full-time.

Of course, once we did leave our day-jobs last October, this enabled us to take on a larger number of weddings, which has allowed us to figure out our limits as a business. We photographed a number of weddings over the past 3 years, where DIY-brides were left rushed and stressed-out on their wedding days as their visions were not being captured by their budget- limited vendors. The most common regret we hear from our past brides is that many of them wish they’d delegated better, and to a more professional caterer, florist, coordinator etc… Not only does it break our hearts when wedding plans are not carried out to the fullest vision of the bride and groom, it makes our jobs more stressful on those wedding days (dodging itinerary changes or working around design elements that did not come through), and also increases our work-load in post-production!

What we’ve learned is that our work-load is streamlined considerably when the weddings we shoot are designed with a lot of detail against the backdrop of a beautiful venue, and are coordinated in an organized manner. When we have as little cropping, lighting adjustments and color corrections to perform as possible on the images we take, we’re able to devote more energy to and invest as much creativity as possible into our shooting, editing and marketing. When a wedding is organized and being coordinated by a talented wedding-planner or day-of coordinator, the whole event flows much smoother and allows us to shoot more freely, thereby coming away from the wedding with the highest number of quality images possible. We cannot stress enough the importance of choosing vendors who deliver quality product and service! In addition to making it as easy as possible for your photographer to deliver gorgeous shots that truly capture the essence of your wedding day, your wise choice of vendors can also greatly enhance your wedding-planning experience and best infuse every detail with the personalities of you and your fiancé.

As we continue to grow, along with the needs of our business, we’ve found that once again it’s time to raise our prices, this time to accommodate these types of events. But as we raise the cost of our packages, we’re also creating new ways for our future clients to save which will also (hopefully) contribute to the streamlining of our workload by adding to the overall beauty and flow of these clients’ weddings!

We’ve created a list of vendors we have confidence in, who we believe to be valuable assets to couples during the planning process! These are vendors who most directly contribute to the organization, decor and level of detail on a wedding day, people who give us something to capture, who make our job very fun! This list of vendors can be found here: http://projectlifephotography.com/how-to-make-us-give-you-free-stuff/. Of course there are many other vendors who are not on this list who do a fabulous job and deliver exceptional quality in their product or service; this is just a list of vendors we’ve wither worked with in the past and seen their work first-hand, or vendors we’ve heard rave-reviews of and we’re excited for the opportunity to work with soon!  As of today, June 4th, couples who book Project:Life Photography for their wedding as well as 2 or more of the vendors on this list will be eligible to receive either a print-credit to their online gallery or a complimentary bridal portrait session!
