Sarah and Stephen’s wedding was sort of a happy surprise for Project:Life to photograph 🙂 A few weeks before their wedding, we received word from a fellow photographer, who had a family emergency taking her out of town unexpectedly, and she would need to be gone on the date of Sarah and Stephen’s wedding. Of course we agreed to fill in, and I had the pleasure of meeting with Sarah before the wedding to go over details and to discover that we were a great fit!
Her wedding took place at a venue we will always look to with fondness… Whip-Poor-Will Hill! This lovely farm-house is where Brian’s brother, Steven Powell, married his wife back in 2010. I had no idea, when I stepped out of my car that day to photograph Stephen and Sarah’s wedding, that we would have 3 more months with my brother-in-law on this earth before Whip-Poor-Will Hill would become not just a place with happy memories, but a place that would hold moments, irreplaceable now that he’s gone.
Sarah and her Stephen kept their ceremony and reception casual and intimate. The told their guests to dress appropriately for the hot, June weather, and made sure everyone had a wonderful time celebrating! The ceremony was short and sweet, there was good food, plenty of dancing, and a gorgeous sunset to top it all off at the end of the reception. Enjoy a few of our favorites from Stephen and Sarah’s wedding!
Kevin & Kristine’s wedding marked our 3rd year in a row shooting a wedding at the Dairy Barn that same weekend in June! In 2012, we captured Adam & Dora’s classy southern wedding on June 16th (our first Dairy Barn wedding… fun fact). In 2013, we photographed Joel & Kayla as they said “I do” in the Dairy Barn loft and square-danced under the stars on June 16th (again). And in 2014, we documented Kevin and Kristine’s gorgeous ceremony and reception on June 14th. We’ve gotta say, this annual tradition is becoming a favorite of ours! All 3 events were beautiful, just like all 3 couples 🙂
I would definitely place my bet that Kevin and Kristine’s wedding produced the highest temperatures! We had to break up the outdoor photos and scatter the timeline with plenty of AC-breaks everyone. But despite the heat, Kristine looked flawless throughout the entirety of the day, and the joy did not leave Kevin’s face even once! These two adore each other and it was an honor to capture their special day. Enjoy some of our favorites from Kevin and Kristine’s wedding!

Josh and Katherine had such a unique wedding! They had an early-afternoon ceremony with a large cake-reception at the church immediately after, and an intimate family dinner and dancing at the Harvey B. Gantt Center in uptown Charlotte later in the evening. We had such a nice, long span of time between the end of the cake-reception and the beginning of the dinner for photos in uptown, which was really nice 🙂 And gosh, do we just love Josh and Katherine! These two are so sweet, and have such a strong love for each other, the Lord and others… they are such a joy to be around and were a delight to have had the opportunity to work with. One of our favorite moments of the day was Josh and Katherine’s “first touch,” where they held hands around a corner from one another and took a moment to pray together before their ceremony. Josh ended the prayer with, “and thank you for my Katherine.” So adorable! Enjoy some of our favorites from Josh and Katherine’s wedding!
