This shoot was quite a feat of accomplishment! I began planning this styled shoot in January of 2016, and planned to shoot it in February of 2016. I lined up models (former wedding clients, Joel + Kayla Bowen), and vendors and began collecting details for a late Feb. shoot at Fenland Christmas Tree Farm when our daughter, Avonlea, had to be rushed to Levine Children’s Hospital the week before we planned to shoot! She ended up staying at Levine for over a week, so we postponed the shoot and it was a good thing too, because I ended up going into labor 4 weeks early with our little Violet just 3 days after Avonlea came home from Levine! Finding an alternative date proved difficult, and the shoot kept getting pushed back and back until September! By the time the date was finalized, a couple of the vendors who had been willing to participate originally were unavailable. New Creations Flowers stepped in at the very last minute the week of the final shoot-date with gorgeous flowers! Velo Creative overnighted stationary, and final pieces of wardrobe and decor were pieced together just days before the shoot. But it all came together beautifully! We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome and we were absolutely thrilled when the shoot was published on Borrowed & Blue, a national wedding style blog, as well as Bustl’d, a wedding blog local to the Charlotte area!
Oh man. What an adventure! Brian and Karine’s destination wedding in NJ was 1 weekend, 24 combined driving hours (several of those in DC traffic lol), 1 flat tire, 1 second-shooter (my wonderful friend Julia of Amore Vita Photography), and ultimately 3 crazy but fun days of working with one of the sweetest couples on earth! Brian has been a friend of our family for many years. He moved to Louisville, KY to attend Southern Seminary, and met Karine when they were neighbors and both working in ministry. They spent many months getting to know each other as friends, unable to discuss the possibility of dating due to the obligations of Karine’s internship. But the minute her internship was over (literally, the minute), they had a relationship-defining talk and soon after, Brian proposed! We met Karine for the first time here in South Carolina, when Brian brought her to town after their engagement. A few months later, we got to take their rainy-day engagement photos while we were in Louisville 3 weeks before their wedding for Michael and Melissa’s wedding! And in July, I got to capture their sweet, backyard wedding in Karine’s hometown in New Jersey. It was blazing hot, but such a wonderful day regardless. It was beautiful to see how perfectly each of them fit in with the other’s friends and family. It was encouraging to see so many friendly faces in a brand new place. And it was an absolute blast to watch the Charleston Southern crew breaking it down HARD on the dance floor (as they do). We’re so thrilled for these two, and know they’re meant for great things. Enjoy some of our favorites from Brian and Karine’s wedding!
This wedding was certainly one of our favorites of the year! Jonathan and Brittany’s June wedding at Brakefield at Riverwalk was different from every other wedding we had shot there as they held their ceremony at a gorgeous, old church in Old Town Rock Hill. Always thinking of others, the couple didn’t want their guests to swelter in the summer afternoon heat. Ebenezer ARP Church was an absolutely stunning backdrop for their ceremony, and really lent itself to the Christ-centered ceremony that Jonathan and Brittany had wanted. They did a first look (yay!) and so we were able to accomplish most of their formal photos before the ceremony! We just took a few bridal party shots and newlywed’s portraits near the river once we got back to Brakefield and then the new Mr. and Mrs. were free to join their guests and dance. The whole day went off so smoothly, and we were beyond honored these two chose us to capture it all for them. Enjoy a few of our favorites of Jonathan and Brittany’s wedding!
