As we were growing in the early stages of our young business, there were a few inflencial pro photographers who took an interest in us and taught us a lot about wedding photography. We want to give back to other aspiring photographers by offering seasonal mentoring/ internships, or… menternships!
WHAT IT’S NOT: This is not a paid internship, or a second-shooter position. This is not a summer job. We do not always need an assistant in the office, help with post-production, or an extra eye at a wedding. We don’t need employees to hire, who come with a ton of technical training or experience… Between the two of us (Brian & Melissa), we pretty much have all the man-power necessary to do what we do effectively.
WHAT IT IS: This is a learning opportunity, a chance to observe. We require that, as our “mentern,” you assist with some of the more tedious, behind-the-scenes work in our office, and assist (not shoot) at portrait sessions; in exchange we allow that you accompany us to at least one wedding to observe and experiment shooting along-side us. In addition, we provide guidance on equipment (what you have, how to use it and what to get), we make ourselves available to advise and/or help you with any commissions you may acquire during your time with us, we offer critiques of your existing portfolio and the work you produce during your time with us, and we deliver a transparent look into the marketing, client-relations, and work-flow aspects of wedding photography.
WHAT IT REQUIRES:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
-Up to 8 flexible hrs/week, (Mon-Thurs) in our home-office (Rock Hill)
-Must be happy, friendly and eager to learn
-Must love dogs
Please understand that we can only accommodate a limited number of “menterns” at a time! Specifics such as hours/week and the length of the menternship are determined on an individual basis, according to what our season looks like, and the specific needs of our business at the time.
