Will and Sarah got married at St. Peter Catholic Church in Uptown Charlotte! One thing we really appreciated about these two: they really wanted to hold off on a “first look” and see each other for the first time on their wedding day at the ceremony; and since we wouldn’t be able to get much photography done before the ceremony, they scheduled two hours between the end of their ceremony and the start of their reception for photos! It was a photographer’s dream ūüôā We had no strict time-constraints and were able to take our time with the bridal party and the newlyweds, just walking around Uptown Charlotte and capturing fun shots as we went. We even finished early and gave the wedding party a chance to enjoy some punch at cocktail hour once they arrived at the reception venue! The reception was held at the Alexander Homestead. It was kind of nice to have two very different settings for photos… the Alexander Homestead is very rustic, as opposed to the more urban feel of the images we captured around Uptown Charlotte. The entire day was a blast from start to finish! Will and Sarah were so great to work with, from first meeting to handing off their finished images- we are so thrilled we got to work with them, and couldn’t be happier for them that they’re now Mr. and Mrs. Neese! Enjoy a few of our favorites from Will and Sarah’s wedding!

We are¬†so incredibly honored to have been published on the cover of Charlotte Wedding Magazine‘s April-June 2014 issue! CWM’s art director arranged for our lovely cover-bride, Caitlin, to come out from California and dawn her grandmother’s wedding dress again at the Ballantyne Country Club for a special cover-shoot! They had mock-ups of possible cover lay-outs and specific parameters for the shoot, so it was very different from the typical bridal session where variety is important to keep in mind. We spent a lot of time trying to capture Caitlin dappled in glowy sunset light, but at the end of the shoot we grabbed a shot in front of some beautiful greenery that set of the vintage details of her gown so beautifully. Also, I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with Avonlea the day we photographed this session! It was a little unnerving for everyone involved, scheduling this very important shoot just 10 days prior to my due-date ūüėČ The lovely Diane Personett of as well as Kisha Whitney¬†were both on stand-by, just in case my water broke before or during the shoot. We’re so thankful for sweet friends who would be willing to do that! It was still super-fun, and wonderful to see Caitlin, her family, and the ever-so-talented Erin of Erin Ashley Makeup again!

Wow‚Ķ SO behind on blogging. Soooo behind. Thinking back, our¬†behind-the-lens perspective on Jon and Jen’s July 2013 wedding is somewhat of a blur now at this point, but what we¬†DO remember very prominently: this group knew how to HAVE. FUN! With service-times restricting their ceremony to begin at 3pm, Jon and Jen allowed¬†multiple¬†hours in between end of ceremony and end of cocktail hour,¬†so that they could¬†have an evening reception. The church where the ceremony was held stood literally across the street from their grand reception venue.¬†With everything happening in such close proximity and with so much time during which to accomplish photos, everyone got to relax, avoid stress, and enjoy the photography process instead of everyone feeling obligated to rush through it! The bride and groom kept their reception clean and fresh, letting the majestic architecture of the top floor of the Mint Museum Uptown speak for itself… a choice which says a lot about Jon and Jen, we think ūüėČ Their laid-back personalities also allowed them to truly soak in every moment of fun with their friends and family at their reception. Split Second Sound kept this lively crowd entertained well into the night, and Best Impressions Catering served an impeccably delicious meal, as always. We were so thrilled to have been able to capture this super-fun wedding-day! Enjoy a bunch of our favorites from Jonothan and Jennifer’s lovely wedding, and see a short (tentatively incomplete) list of vendors at the bottom of this post!
